ECHO Standing Committee Descriptions
Purchasing Committee
- Primary responsibility for all purchasing projects
decided upon by the Directors of the Coalition
- Written policies and procedures of the Purchasing
Committee must be followed at all times
Quality Committee
- Primary responsibility for developing and
implementing programs to measure, improve, and monitor the quality of
healthcare in Alabama
- Assist Purchasing Committee and Community
Health/Membership Committee as needed
- Committee members should have a natural interest in
understanding and improving health care quality
- Board of Directors must approve all projects of the
Quality Committee
Community Health/Membership Committee
- Primary responsibility for implementing programs to promote the health of
employees of ECHO member companies as well as residents of Alabama
- Responsible for membership growth and retention
- Participate in projects approved by the Board of Directors, such as:
- Development and implementation of an interactive healthcare website
- Organizing educational healthcare programs for medical providers and
members
- Working with the Quality Committee to evaluate and implement disease
management programs
- Overall responsibility for the ECHO annual symposium
- Organizing membership drives, receptions and meetings to promote
membership in the coalition
- Members of the Community Health/Membership Committee must enjoy working
with the public and be willing to participate in early morning and evening
programs
Small Purchasers Committee
- Primary responsibility for evaluating the needs of
the small employers in Alabama
- Organizing small purchaser membership drives
- Proposing and evaluating programs to be used by the ECHO small
purchaser
- Member must be an employer in Alabama with
less than one hundred employees
